| 0:00.0 | You're listening to Catholic Sprouts, the daily podcast for Catholic kids that strives to plant seeds of faith. |
| 0:31.0 | Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Friday, July 31st, 2020. Today is also the feast day of St. Ignatius of Laola. |
| 0:41.3 | Now, St. Ignatius is a very interesting saint. He lived during the 1500s in Spain. and when he was alive, it was the time of castles and knights. And St. Ignatius loved action. In fact, he really didn't have much time for |
| 0:48.2 | God or religion, because he was so busy out proving himself as the bravest, most valiant knight. He was very successful in battle |
| 0:57.6 | and a very handsome young man. But then one day, while he and his army were fighting the French, |
| 1:06.0 | he was terribly wounded. A cannonball hit him in the leg and basically destroyed his leg. His Spanish |
| 1:13.3 | army lost that battle, but he was so respected by the French that he was fighting, that the |
| 1:19.1 | French carried St. Ignatius all the way back home to his family castle. But that is where the |
| 1:26.6 | real struggle began for St. Ignatius. He was forced to lay in bed |
| 1:31.6 | for months and wait for his leg to heal. It was so boring. After all, he was used to action and |
| 1:39.3 | fun. So while he laid there, he asked his family members if they could at least bring him something |
| 1:44.5 | entertaining to read. He hoped that they would bring him romance novels or stories about wars and |
| 1:51.0 | battles. But all they brought him instead were some stories about the saints and the Holy Bible. |
| 1:58.6 | Ugh, he was so disappointed. |
| 2:02.0 | How boring. |
| 2:06.1 | And yet he was stuck in that bed and he had nothing else to do. |
| 2:10.1 | So eventually he broke down and he started to read the lives of the saints. |
| 2:15.2 | And as he read, something within him changed. |
| 2:20.0 | As he read, he realized that these men and women who were saints, |
| 2:25.9 | that they were doing something different with their lives than he had been doing with his. |
| 2:31.1 | They seemed to be living for something bigger, more meaningful. |
| 2:36.6 | And in the end, they were doing something so much bigger and more meaningful than he ever did on the battlefield. They were living for God. They were giving their life for love of God. |
