We have been plugging away at the Ten Commandments all summer.

This week is the Sixth Commandment.

Thou shalt not commit adultery.

We've talked a lot about marriage this week, about how married people are called to be faithful forever, because that is the way God loves us.

Also, how marriage is the foundation of society.

We talked about chastity and how we need to protect and respect the private parts of who we are.

And yesterday we started talking about friendship. We started talking about how friendship should

never be based on wanting to get something out of a friendship or using our friends. Instead, we should make sure that we love and

respect our friends just as they are. Now, today I have another story for you, and it gets at

another important part of friendship. This story reveals the importance of loyalty, even during hard times.

So Sarah and Kate were best friends.

They grew up as neighbors, went to the same school, and had a lot in common.

In fact, each morning they stood on the corner and waited for the bus.

They got on it together and were together most of the day.
