You're listening to Catholic Sprouts, the daily podcast for Catholic kids that strives to plant seeds of faith.

0:29.8

Hey there, sprouts. Today is Tuesday, July 21st, 2020. This week on the Catholic Sprauds we are talking about the Sixth Commandment, Thou shalt not commit adultery. We've already

0:37.1

talked about how this is a very specific sin, which occurs when two people who are

0:42.5

married are no longer faithful to each other, but instead they form relationships, special,

0:49.9

private relationships with people outside of their marriage.

0:57.2

Oftentimes, this leads to the end of a marriage. And marriage is something that lasts forever because marriage reveals to the world the loving

1:03.9

nature of God, which is without end. Now, today we're going to talk about why marriage is such a big deal to the whole world

1:13.2

and why people who aren't married, perhaps single people, really do need to fight for the

1:19.5

protection of marriage. In our world today, marriage is very much attacked. People might think that you can have a family if two people just

live together, but perhaps they aren't married. They might also think that marriage should apply to

1:37.8

all sorts of different people, not just a man and a wife. But as Catholics, we believe it is super duper important.

1:47.6

The marriage be protected, that it always be between a man and a woman, that it be recognized

1:53.8

as a sacrament, and that it be protected as the absolute building block of everything. Now remember with me for a second

2:04.9

sprouts way back in the beginning. When God created the world, he created the land, the water,

2:12.4

the light, and then he started to create living creatures, the animals on the land, the animals in the air,

2:19.0

and the animals in the sea. And at the end, God desired to create a creature in his image,

2:27.1

so he created a human being. But he realized that this human being, Adam, needed a companion.

2:35.8

So he created Eve.

2:38.5

And Adam and Eve were married and they became the first parents.

2:45.4

Their children are what grew and their grandchildren and on and on is what grew to populate the world.

2:53.1

Now, think about this. Nothing that God does is an accident. We might think that it's just

3:00.3

sort of interesting that there was a man and a woman in the very beginning and that that was
