You're listening to Catholic Sprouts, the daily podcast for Catholic kids that strives to plant seeds of faith.

Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Friday, July 3rd, 2020. Today is also the feast day of St. Thomas.

0:39.0

So let's talk for a second about St. Thomas. Well, St. Thomas was one of the 12 apostles. He was a close follower of Jesus.

0:46.2

But after Jesus rose from the dead, he was one of the last people to see Jesus. He just simply wasn't there when Jesus appeared. Because of this, he refused to believe. The other apostles

0:52.7

came to him and said, you won't believe it. We saw Jesus.

0:56.2

He rose from the dead. And Thomas said, I want to believe you, but that is so unbelievable.

1:02.9

In fact, I don't think I could possibly believe unless I put my finger into the nail wounds on his

1:09.6

hands. And I put my hand into the gash on his side.

1:14.2

Well, as it turned out, a few days later, Thomas was with all of the apostles when Jesus

1:21.0

once again came into their midst. Jesus came up to St. Thomas and asked him to put his hand into his wounds. Of course,

1:30.5

at this moment, St. Thomas fell to his knees and proclaimed, my Lord and my God. Because of this

1:37.5

whole story, we sometimes refer to St. Thomas as St. Thomas, the doubter. But he didn't doubt for very long. As soon as he saw Jesus,

1:46.6

he believed with the profound faith. And after the Holy Spirit descended upon them all at

1:52.0

Pentecost, he went out to convert souls bravely for Jesus Christ. The thing I want you to remember

1:58.6

about St. Thomas is that it is okay to struggle with belief

2:03.4

sometimes, but we need to always put our trust in Jesus. We might not have all of the answers.

2:10.6

The things that we believe as Christians are a little bit crazy. And yet we always put our

2:16.9

trust in Jesus that even though we can't see the wounds,

2:21.4

we still believe. So Sprouts, today we are going to wrap up our discussion on the Fourth

2:27.0

Commandment to honor our mother and father. We have already talked about how Jesus was part of a family,

2:33.4

a mother and a father he obeyed.

2:36.5

We've talked about obedience and how God teaches obedience, mostly through the Ten Commandments,
