This week on the Catholic Sprouts podcast, we are having the first Bible study here on Catholic Spruits.

And we are kicking it off with a bang, looking at John Chapter 6 and understanding the Catholic Church's teaching on Jesus Christ being truly present,

body, soul, and divinity in the Eucharist. Now, yesterday we went through some background and the first

part of this conversation. This happened immediately after the multiplication

of loaves. The Jews came looking for a sign to prove that Jesus was the Messiah, and they

started talking about when God fed the Israelites in the desert with manna. And Jesus says that he is the

true bread of life come down from heaven.

The Jews, of course, weren't happy with this.

They knew his mom and dad.

So how could he claim that he came from heaven?

Now, at this point, we've already said,

Jesus is not really winning over these people.

If what he was after is convincing more people to believe in

him and follow him, then he would not have said what he says next. Next, in John chapter 6,

verse 51, Jesus says this, I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live

forever. And the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world. Once again, I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this

bread will live forever and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.
