Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Tuesday, May 19th, 2020. This week on the Catholic Sprouts podcast, we are talking about our Lady of Lords, the time almost 150 years ago when Mary

0:35.8

appeared to a poor little girl named Bernadette.

0:39.9

And of course, this happened in Lord's France.

0:42.8

Yesterday we talked about Bernadette's family, their poverty, and how Bernadette was a super sick girl,

0:49.5

who even though she was 14, couldn't read and write, and had not yet received her first communion because

0:55.4

she so rarely was able to go to school. Then one day, when she was feeling a little bit better,

1:02.9

Bernadette went with her sister and a friend to gather wood. And here is what happened.

1:09.3

So as Bernadette knelt and removed her woolen socks and her wooden shoes, she suddenly felt the air around her get very cold.

1:18.7

It was so odd.

1:20.4

And then she felt a strong wind begin to blow her around, but was even stranger is that as she looked around, she noticed that the grass and the

1:29.4

trees were perfectly still. Then she looked across the river, and there there was a rose bush

1:36.4

in a small cave, but it was being tossled and tossedled and blown about by the wind. Suddenly,

1:44.1

in a small opening in the cave, there was a brilliant light.

1:49.9

A brilliant light.

1:51.4

Bernadette covered her eyes and as she squinted,

1:54.1

she was able to see a small, beautiful figure appear in the small opening.

2:04.3

The figure was dressed in a white dress with a blue sash and beautiful yellow roses sat upon each of her feet. She was easily the most beautiful

2:11.8

beautiful woman that Bernadette had ever seen. Amaze, Bernadette fell to her knees. Now, the woman didn't speak to her,

2:21.1

but she did smile at Bernadette. She gently gestured showing Bernadette she should come closer.

2:28.4

And so on her knees, Bernadette smiled at the woman and came closer. Eventually, Bernadette made the sign of the cross,

2:36.3

and instinctively, she pulled out the rosary that she kept in her pocket.
