This week on the Catholic Spouts podcast, we have been celebrating our lady of Fatima when she appeared to three poor shepherd children in Fatima, Portugal.

We've talked about the angel that appeared to the children and taught them to pray.

We've talked about the first apparition when Mary appeared and asked them to accept suffering and pray the rosary every day.

The second one when she taught them the Fatima prayer.

The third apparition in July when she actually them the Fatima prayer, the third apparition in July, when she actually showed the children hell and told them to offer their suffering for the salvation of souls.

And then in August, when they actually couldn't get to the Kovah to see Mary, and they were

imprisoned for a short time, but how she appeared to them on the 19th instead.

That brings us up to September. Now remember, way back in July, the children were already suffering

that people didn't believe them. Their families didn't believe them. The government was

starting to harass them. And in fact, as these apparitions became more and more known,

their family became more and more irritated with them. Particularly Lucia's family was mad at her.

And actually, they had good reason to be upset. Remember, Mary started to appear to

these children in their pasture. The children's family were poor farmers. They had sheep and they also

planted crops. This is how they supported themselves. With more and more people coming to this pasture to see the apparitions.

Remember, Mary had told them she would appear on the 13th.

So people knew just when to come.

They knew just where to go.

And the crowds were bigger every month.

Every time they came, they trampled down the family's crops. They scared their sheep.
