Today is February 27, 2020.

It is also the first Thursday of Lent.

This week on the Catholic Sprout's podcast, we are talking about Lent.

We have already talked about how Lent is a time of repair and it is leading us up to Easter.

We've talked about the things we'll see during lunch, what we will hear, what we will feel.

Yesterday we talked about why we get ashes on our head on Ash Wednesday.

And today we are going to talk about what we do during

Lent. Now, if you have already sent your Lenton resolutions, then you probably thought through some

of these things, but you can think about them once more. If you are still working on those Lenton

resolutions, then today is a perfect day to

finally figure out what you are going to do. In Lent, we are called to do three things. We are called

to pray, to fast, and to give. Today we're going to talk about the first two of those.

We're going to talk about giving and fasting.

So first of all, fasting.

Now, fasting is usually what we think about

when we think about a Lenton resolution.

You might think about giving up candy or desserts,

giving up TV or video games. Usually we cut out something that is

taking us away from God and something that we maybe don't have a lot of control over. Maybe we

eat too much candy and can't stop ourselves or always want to play more and more video games.
