| 0:37.7 | Before we get into that, though, let's talk about today's saint. |
| 0:41.2 | Today's saint is St. Francis DeSales. |
| 0:44.8 | Now, St. Francis DeSales is one of the few saints that was born in a castle. |
| 0:50.0 | He's French, and he was born to a very wealthy family. |
| 0:53.4 | His mother was incredibly devout Catholic, and she raised him to truly love his faith and |

| 1:01.6 | St. Francis DeSales was not only wealthy. |
| 1:03.6 | He was also incredibly intelligent. |
| 1:06.7 | He whizzed through school and graduated with a doctorate in law at a very young age. |
| 1:14.5 | However, he quickly realized that he was being called to the priesthood. |
| 1:19.0 | So even though it disappointed his father and other members of his family, he answered the call to the priesthood and he even went on to become a bishop. |
| 1:29.4 | Now, St. Francis de Sales lived in France during a time when it was actually very dangerous to be a Catholic. |
| 1:38.0 | Before this, the French had gone through a revolution, and the revolution had not only killed many, many people, it had also |
| 1:46.9 | attacked the church. And many saints' tombs had been burned, churches had been burned, and they were |
| 1:54.4 | oftentimes dangerously violent towards priests and bishops. Regardless, St. Francis de Sales became a missionary to his own people. |
| 2:03.0 | He specifically went to the young people in France and tried to soften their hearts to correct |
| 2:09.1 | all of the lies that they had come to believe about Jesus Christ and about his church. |
| 2:14.9 | St. Francis de Sales also wrote a lot to ordinary people like you and me, and he taught us |
