podcast, we are looking at the sacrament of reconciliation. Now, yesterday we went through

all of the things that happen when we received the

sacrament of reconciliation.

We talked about examination of conscience, confessing our sins, the act of contrition,

even the prayer of absolution that the priest offers us at the end of the sacrament

that completely wipes away our sins.

Today, we are going to tackle an important question that you need to understand before you can effectively receive the sacrament of

reconciliation. And that is this question. What is sin? Now, this is a question that you might think you already know the answer to.

You might think it means hurting people, doing bad things.

And although that's true, I would argue that the most common sins we commit are not against other people, but they're against God.

The best definition of sin that I have come across is this.

Sin is when we know what God wants us to do, and yet we decide to ignore God and do what we want to do instead.

It's simply that, knowing what God wants us to do, ignoring him and doing what we want to do.

Now, this is why eating an apple was such a big sin.

Well, chances of the heart wasn't a sin when you did it.
