Today is Thursday, December 12th, 2019.

It is also the great feast of our lady of Guadalupe.

Now, this week on the Catholic Spouts podcast, we are talking about the prophet Elijah, but before we get there, we have to talk about today's feast day. Today is the day that we remember that our great

mother from heaven, Mary, most holy, mother of the church, mother of God, took time to appear to a lowly peasant in Mexico.

This peasant, his name was Juan Diego, and we celebrated his feast day on Monday.

He was a new convert to the church.

This was a long time ago when Christianity was new to Mexico.

And this simple man, he was walking along one day

when a beautiful woman appeared to him.

And my favorite part about the story of Juan Diego

and Our Lady of Guadalupe is the way in which she referred to Juan Diego.

She talks to him and calls him her beloved child, her most loved child.

And what's so cool, my friends, is that that is how she talks to us. She sees you, you specifically.

Now, whether you're sitting in a large group with all of your

siblings or classmates, you aren't just one of the crowd to her. She sees you. She hears

the problems that you struggle with, the feelings that you feel. She sees you and she loves you. Just as she said, Juan Diego,

her most beloved child, you are that as well. She wants desperately for you to know Jesus better

and to join him in heaven with her when this life is over. Now, just like Juan Diego, our lady, our lady Guadalupe,

she has a mission for us. It's a little bit different for each person. But the mission that she

sent Juan Diego on was to build a cathedral at that spot to honor her. And she did a beautiful sign so that Juan Diego might be able to go to the
