This week on the Catholic Sprouts podcast, we are going to continue to talk about the period of waiting before Jesus arrived, the Old Testament.

Now, during Advent, we usually do this through the Jesse tree, and we're doing that, but we can't go into

detail with every character. So we are going to look specifically at the prophets.

Last week, we talked about what a prophet is, that a prophet isn't someone that can see the future.

Instead, there's someone that is given a specific message from God.

Sometimes this comes with warnings about the future.

But the prophets always talked about two things.

They talked about first that there would be

punishment for the sins of the people. And secondly, that even if they repented now, after all

of these terrible things they'd done, God would be merciful. Also, the prophets talked about

the coming Messiah. And we know how that turned

out. That turned out was Jesus being born in a manger in Bethlehem. So today, we are going to

talk about one of the most well-known prophets from the Old Testament, and that is the prophet

Elijah. Now, Elijah is one of the most important characters in the Old Testament, and that is the prophet Elijah. Now, Elijah is one of the most important characters

in the Old Testament. In fact, he is so important that when Jesus was on earth, and he took a couple

of his disciples up to the top of a mountain, and he allowed them to see him in his true glory during the transfiguration.
