Hey there, Spouse. Today is Tuesday, November 19th, 2019. This week on the Catholic Spouts podcast, we are talking about understanding the sixth gift of the Holy Spirit. Yesterday, we talked

about how understanding is what separates us from

the animals. We not only take information with our senses, but we can make sense of it. We can come to

bigger, deeper conclusions. Now that is the way that all of us have been giving the gift of understanding,

simply by being humans.

But today, we're going to talk about how the Holy Spirit can give us an even deeper sense

of understanding through the gift of understanding. Now, to understand this, I want you to imagine

something. Because as with all things with faith, it's kind

of hard to define it and it's better to imagine it through an example. So imagine this. You are in a

dark room. Now it's not a scary dark room. It just happens to be a room where you can't see anything.

It's a dark room and you have been

given a flashlight. Now this flashlight represents the great gift of understanding, the divine

gift from God. So you look around the room with a flashlight and you notice that there's really

not much in here. But as you go around searching,

you realize that over on the other side of the room,

there is a huge black hole.

Now, if you've ever studied black holes in the universe,

you know that a black hole is sort of like this limitless, empty, huge space.

With the use of your flashlight, you can go over there and you can see, see that it's there,

this huge thing.

You can kind of find the edges of it or sort of shine your light down into it.
