This week on the Catholic Sprouts podcast, we have been talking about the gift to the Holy Spirit, fortitude.

And we have looked at so many people that are filled with this divine strength and

confidence. We have looked at St. Charles Barameo, St. Elizabeth, the Christian martyrs in Rome.

We have looked at Samson from the Old Testament, and most importantly, we looked at Mary,

our great mother, and the supreme example of all of these gifts.

Today, we are going to wrap up this week by looking at one more hero, and that is St.

Maximilian Colby.

Now, St. Maximilian Colby is a pretty well-known saint, and we've

certainly talked about him a lot here on the Catholic Spouse podcast. But just in case you haven't

heard of him, here is a quick review. St. Maximilian Colby lived in Poland, and he unfortunately lived there before and during the Second World War.

Now, if you know anything about history, you know that the country of Poland was caught right in the middle of the First World War and the Second World War.

Now, during the Second World War, they were occupied by Nazi Germany.

But before we get there, let's go back and look at St. Maximilian Colby's childhood.

Now, St. Maximilian Colby was raised by two very holy parents who gave him the Catholic faith.

And although we don't know a ton about his upbringing,

we do have one very vivid story that he told. When he was a child, he was in church one day

praying to Mary, whom he loved very much. He was a wonderful son of Mary. He loved her

incredibly. And he had a vision. Mary offered

him two crowns. One was a white crown that symbolizes sainthood, meaning purity and virtue,
