| 0:00.0 | You're listening to Catholic Sprouts, the daily podcast for Catholic kids that strives to plant seeds of faith. |
| 0:39.0 | Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Sprouts. Today is Monday, November 4th, 2019. It is also the feast day of St. Charles Borromeo. This week on the Catholic Sprouts podcast, we are talking about the fourth gift of the Holy Spirit. |
| 0:46.8 | We have already talked about step one, fear of the Lord, step two, piety, step three, knowledge, |
| 0:57.2 | and today it's fortitude. Now let's talk about what fortitude means. Well, first of all, look at that first part of the word, |
| 1:05.2 | fort. Now, what does that mean? Don't think about the fort that you might build in your basement out of couch pillows. Instead, think of the fort that an army might build. |
| 1:11.7 | What would a fort look like if you were trying to defend a mountain? |
| 1:17.4 | Well, it would have strong stone walls. |

| 1:39.8 | and take you over or hurt the people that you're protecting, right? When we think of a fort that an army |
| 1:47.0 | builds, it is about strength. It is about enduring the evil that might attack us. Well, this is exactly what |
| 1:57.5 | the gift of the Holy Spirit, fortitude means. It means strength. It means that when we |
| 2:05.4 | face difficulties, we will be strong and we will keep walking. The ultimate example of fortitude |
| 2:14.8 | is Jesus Christ carrying his cross through the streets of Jerusalem. |
| 2:21.3 | Now think about all of the things that Jesus could have been upset about, emotionally upset. |
| 2:27.6 | Remember, just a couple days before this, Jesus had entered Jerusalem and what did people do? |
| 2:33.1 | They worshipped him. They laid down branches on the |
| 2:36.8 | streets. They took the cloaks off of their back and put them on the street so that the donkey he was |
| 2:41.3 | riding could walk on them. This is pretty much as close as they got to rolling the red carpet out. |
| 2:48.8 | They were singing Hosanna. And then, here they are before Pilots |
| 2:54.5 | screaming for Jesus to be crucified and a horrible criminal named Barabbas to be freed. Then Jesus is |
