Today is Monday, October 28, 2019.

It is also the feast day of St. Simon and St. Jude.

Two apostles that went out and preached the word after Jesus ascended into heaven. They both knew

Jesus personally while he was on earth, and we're lucky enough to be in the upper room when the

Holy Spirit descended at Pentecost. So this week on the Catholic Spreads podcast, we are going

to continue to talk about the gifts of the Holy Spirit. And when we do that, we are going to continue to talk about the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

And when we do that, we are going to continue to climb up this ladder to holiness.

The last two weeks, we have talked about the first two rungs on this ladder.

The first one is fear of the Lord that motivates us to respect God and obey His commandments.

And the next one was piety, which helps us move from being a servant that obeys out of fear

to a child that obeys out of love and trust.

Now this week, we are going to look at the gift of the Holy Spirit, which is knowledge.

Now, knowledge is a bit of a tricky one to understand. It might sound very straightforward.

We all know what knowledge is. Knowledge is simply knowing things, understanding things. For example, we think of facts

as knowledge, right? You go to school, you gain knowledge, both in how to read, how to understand

the scientific world, how to perform mathematical problems. And all of those things are good.

And it is a gift, a true gift from God that

you have a mind that can comprehend these things. But remember, we aren't just talking about

ordinary things this week. We are talking about things or abilities that are beyond our control, that are beyond our ability

to develop ourselves. So when we talk about knowledge as a gift from the Holy Spirit,
