Hey there, sprouts. Today is Tuesday, September 17th, 2019. This week on the Catholic Sprout's

podcast, we are talking about friendship. We've already talked about the first characteristic

of a good friendship, and that is a shared faith in Jesus Christ. Today we're going to talk about the second part of a good

and holy friendship, and that is having complete trust. Now, why is trust so important in a friendship?

Well, a true friendship requires sharing between both people.

You let them get to know you and they let you get to know them. Oftentimes friends share a lot of

personal things, the way that we feel, the way that we have experienced things.

We might also share with a friend things that we're embarrassed about or things that we still are hurt about.

That is the characteristic of a true friend. A friend also oftentimes works as a guide.

When we aren't sure what to do, what turn to take, we might call up or spend time with our friend,

share with them all the things that we're thinking, all of the

possibilities, and then ask for their opinion and their advice. This is why it's so important that

we trust our friend. We trust that they love us, that they know us, and that their advice when we seek it will be the good

and holy answer that we need. That is why trust is so important. Sometimes we think that our

friend is the one that keeps our secrets for us.

Now, I don't advocate having any secrets.

You should not be doing sneaky things that other people can't know about.

But there is a special bond between friends.

There is an understanding that what you tell them

isn't public knowledge, that they have earned the right to know you this way. And that is why
