Today is September 6th, 2019, and our topic today is battle.

Battle is our final topic in this little mini-series on holiness for boys.

At first, we talked about identity, that we are first sons of God.

Then we talked about obedience, how obedience for a boy is their first virtue that they need to

cultivate, right?

We need to be obedient to our parents, and this has mentioned time and again in Scripture.

Then we talked about adventure and the need to go out and take on things that we might not be

familiar with or comfortable with.

And then yesterday we talked about work, the need to work, to work hard, how it plays a role in the Christian life.

And as we talked about kind of one of the first missions that God gave to the man in the garden,

to till the garden, today we talk about the other mission that God gave the man in the garden, to keep the garden.

And another way to look at the word keep is to think of it as to protect the garden.

You see, boys, because you are boys, you are also protectors.

It is your job to protect your little brothers and sisters, your mothers, whatever's around you.

Part of your job is to protect others.

And protecting others means that you will have to be ready to battle something.

That battle doesn't always have to be a physical enemy.

It doesn't always have to be an enemy on a horse or some bad guy with a machine gun, right?

Sometimes it's ourselves.

Sometimes it's our own selfishness that we have to fight.
