Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Monday, August 26, 2019. This week on the Catholic Sprouts podcast, we are going to be wrestling with a very important question. This question is, why do we need God? Now, this might sound like a crazy question, a question that might even be a little bit

sinful to ask, but it is important that we have a clear answer to this question if we are going to

truly practice our faith in the way that we should. Why do we need God? Why are we not able to just

do it on our own? Why do we need him? Now, there are lots and lots of answers to this question,

different answers depending on what's going on in our lives, who we are, what our experiences have been.

But we're going to talk about five different answers to this question that will profoundly

change the way that you see God. Remember, it's not like we're doing God a favor when we go to Mass or when we pray. It's not like we're

just doing something nice for Him. No, we profoundly need God. We need Him. Now, the first reason

that we're going to talk about today for why we need God is because we can

only really know ourselves when we know God. In fact, it is through God that we are revealed to

ourselves.

Now, this might sound a little bit crazy, but I want you to think about this.

God created each and every person on this earth.

And although we might think that God created us to do certain things or to be useful,

that's not the case at all.

God created us simply to love us.

We were created to be loved.

It was an act of love itself that created us. And even if we never do anything useful, even if we never succeed at anything, as long as we are

living our lives with God, that's all he asks. So now, since God had no real use for us,

many ways we can think about this as that God loved us into being.

And he didn't just love everyone into being at the same time.
