Well, hello, sprouts. Today is August 9th, 2018, and it is the feast day of Teresa

Benedicta of the cross, also known as Edith Stein. Now, this week on Catholic sprouts,

we have been talking about the little way to holiness from St. Teres. We learned that we

can ride an elevator to heaven, which are the very arms of Jesus Christ. We've learned that we are called

to be beautiful flowers that bloom and give glory to God. We've also learned that we might not be called to do amazing,

great things on this earth, but we are called to do small things with great love. Now, today is the

feast day of St. Edith Stein. Perhaps you know about Edith Stein. Edith Stein lived during World War II,

and she died during World War II. Edith Stein was born a Jew in Germany. Through a lot of

struggles, Edith Stein found her way into the Catholic faith, and she fell in love with our beautiful faith and with our amazing Savior.

Eventually, Edith Stein joined a convent of Carmelite nuns.

Now, as you know, Edith Stein was a Jew, and even hidden in a Carmelite convent, living as a nun,

she was not safe. The Nazis eventually came and took her along with her sister, and she eventually

died at a concentration camp. She died a martyr for the faith, and she left behind some amazing

writing to help the rest of us understand what it really means to be a woman and a child of God.

Now, what Edestine did during her life might seem very big. She died for her faith in Nazi Germany. However,

Edestine, St. Edestine, took many little steps that led her to that great sacrifice for her faith.
