Summary

This week on Catholic Sprouts we will go over the parts of the Mass, the Liturgy of the Word and the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Each day we will look at a few parts of the Mass, what is happening in each part, and what we are supposed to be doing during that part. I will also share some fun and free resources you can use for your family or class to prepare for each Sunday Mass or to review it. A small challenge is included each day based on reading the upcoming Sunday Mass Readings.

+ MONDAY: Let’s look at the two main parts of the Mass and discuss the Introductory Rites, the beginning of Mass.

+ TUESDAY: Today we focus on the First and Second Readings and the Responsorial Psalm. Where do they come from and why are they important?

+ WEDNESDAY: We now look at the Gospel and Homily and the importance of scripture in the Mass. We finish discussing the Liturgy of the Word.

+ THURSDAY: We begin learning about the first part of the Liturgy of the Eucharist, with the Offertory Procession and the Eucharistic Prayer.

+ FRIDAY: We conclude our week with the last part of the Liturgy of the Eucharist, receiving Communion and the concluding prayers as we leave Mass.

0:51.2	sometimes Saturday evening, we go to Mass to celebrate the Lord's Day. We go to thank God

1:05.5	It's always good before we're going to go to Mass to be prepared, to know what to expect, to know what we're doing, and to know why we're doing it.
1:14.9	So that's what we're going to talk about today.
1:18.0	First of all, I want you to know that there are two main parts of the Mass.
1:24.0	The first part of the Mass is called the Liturgy of the Word, and then there's the second part of the Mass that's called the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
1:34.2	Today, we're going to look at part of the Liturgy of the Word.
1:41.5	The Liturgy of the Word is where we learn what God is saying to us. We get to hear
1:49.6	His Word. But before we hear His Word, we have a little conversation ahead of time. And those are
1:56.7	officially called the introductory rights. So we introduce ourselves. We introduce ourselves to God,
2:05.2	and God introduces himself to us. It's not that he doesn't know us or that we don't know him,
2:11.5	but it's a way to get to know each other again after being separated from each other for a week
