Hey there, sprouts. Today is Wednesday, April 30th, 20205. Today is also the feast day of Pope Pius V. Saint Pope Pius V was a very important priest who served during the 1500s.

Now, if you can remember, the 1500s were a very sad time for Christianity

because it's when the Protestant Reformation happened.

Millions of people died in Europe when Luther and John Kelvin broke away from the Catholic Church and began spreading

heresy throughout the region. Pope Pius V was the Pope who really instituted the counter

reformation, very holy reforming of the Catholic Church and in line with what God had intended. He did this while also

preserving Christendom by fighting the Turks who were trying to invade and conquer Europe and

exterminate Christianity. He is remembered most for the Battle of Lepanto, which was a

miraculous naval victory over the Turks during his time as Pope.
