Today is also the feast day of one of my personal favorite saints.

Today is the feast day of St. Bernadette Subaru.

St. Bernadette lived in the 1800s in a small town called

Lords France. It was there when she was still young that Mary began to appear to her in a little

crevice in a cave wall. Mary asked her to come back many times. They prayed the rosary together, but for most of the

visions, Mary did not identify who she was. Eventually, Mary identified herself as the immaculate

conception, meaning that she was conceived in the womb of her mother Anne without sin.

And this is a dogmatic truth that we believe as Catholics.

Following this, the bishop and other priests and lords believed Bernadette, and where she dug in the earth at Mary's prompting, a miraculous spring

of water bubbled up, and in that spring of water, countless people have received healing.

Thanks to Mary's instructions, a huge strine to Our Lady of Lords now stands at the place of the apparitions.

Millions of people make a pilgrimage to Lords every year.

They bathe in the miraculous water and miracles still occur there.

But what you might wonder happened to St. Bernadette after the apparitions

ended. Well, she was kind of an ordinary girl. After that, she received her first Holy Communion.

That's right. Mary appeared to a girl who had yet to receive her first Holy Communion, but she received that,

and eventually she became a nun. And she wasn't really that remarkable. And yet after she died,

her body was unearthed, and it was revealed that she was incorruptible. Her body was not decaying.
