0:41.5	garment or vestment that the priest puts on before he celebrates Holy Mass, something that you
0:48.1	probably don't even see, but it is called the Amos. Before we get to that, though, please join me in our April prayer, the Anama Christi.

1:16.0	Blood of Christ emboldened me. Water from the side of Christ wash me. Passion of Christ strengthen me. Good Jesus, hear me. Within your wounds hide me. Never permit me to be parted from you. From the evil enemy defend me.
1:33.3	At the hour of my death, call me and bid me come to you that with your saints I may praise you for age upon age.
1:43.0	Amen. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen.
1:50.4	So the Amos is the very first garment that a priest puts on as he is dressing to say Holy Mass.
1:58.2	This is a white linen triangle that has two long cloth ribbons coming out the top
2:07.9	corners of this rectangle. So a priest wears this around their neck and it covers the clerical
2:15.8	collar. Now the clerical collar is the black collar with a little
2:19.9	white in the middle that a priest wears. So he has his clerical clothes on underneath. All of the
2:26.5	garments that we're going to talk about simply go on over his black priestly garments. So the amos
2:34.0	is what happens first. Now this is really just a big
2:37.8	rectangle of fabric that he ties on and tucks around his clerical collar. It's tied in a certain way.
2:45.7	And this comes from a garment that Roman soldiers used to wear. They actually used to wear it on their head.
2:52.7	It was there under their helmet and it would soak up the sweat so it didn't drip in their face when they were in battle.
