This week on Catholic Sprouts, Catherine DiNuzzo (a Catholic Licensed Professional Counselor) will take the children through a very basic understanding of living mental wellness, including understanding their feelings (helping them to know that feelings are good and that they can be expressed). She also goes through an age-appropriate understanding of how the body and brain function regarding fears and scary things. Catherine connects the dots by sharing good physical ways to utilize the senses and physical movement to calm the body (heart, stomach, and brain) as well as how special the gift of the Church is for our spiritual mental wellness, and how God always knew exactly what we needed. *Catherine purposefully left out the term “anxiety” because it frequently becomes a label that a child may too easily associate with.
Mon: What mental wellnes is and understanding our feelings.
Tue: How our brains and feelings work together.
Wed: Tangible, physical strategies to help us work through and manage our feelings.
Thu: How the Church helps us understand and live out mental wellness.
Fri: How to talk to others about our feelings.
