Today is also the Feastay of St. Catherine of Sweden.

St. Catherine of Sweden had a saintly mother, we know as St. Bridgett of Sweden.

She was born in the 1300s. She was married to a good man. But after her husband died, she went to go join her mother who was in Rome.

At the time, there was a lot of chaos in the church. The papacy had moved to France and then moved back, and then there

was a lot of confusion about who was the Pope. So thanks to holy women like St. Bridget, St. Catherine,

and also St. Catherine of Siena, who was alive at the time, the church remained grounded in

prayer and used them to call the church continually

back to repentance. After her mother died, Catherine returned to Sweden. She was the abatists

of the monastery her mother had formed, and she helped form a new order based on the charism her mother had practiced.
