0:30.7	DeSales. St. Francis DeSales was born in France and lived in the 1500s in the period following the Protestant Reformation.

0:47.2	Eventually, he was sent to go and minister to those who lived in areas that had been taken

0:56.0	violence and even more confusion during this time. St. Francis De Salle, who went with his cousin,
1:02.6	went and risked his life to preach the truth, to minister to offer love to those who had fallen

1:16.8	He was nearly killed many times, but after his work there for a couple of years,
1:18.7	the area became very peaceful.
1:24.3	Many people returned to the Catholic Church, and the local bishop was able to come and lead a 40-hour's devotion, which was incredible. Following this, St. Francis de Sales was
1:30.8	made Bishop of Geneva. He did many important things, lived a very humble, prayerful life,
1:37.9	and he is remembered today for his writings that encouraged all people to pursue holiness,
1:47.1	even lay people like you and me.
1:53.4	He was a big believer that we can become holy in our ordinary daily lives.
