Hey there, Spouts. Today is Tuesday, October 29th, 20204. This week, we are continuing on in our ABCs of the Catholic faith. We are on the letter I and talking about indulgences. Yesterday, we learned that an indulgence is God

releasing us from the temporal punishment that is due to us because of our sin. We learned that

the eternal consequences of sin, those can be dealt within the confessional, but we do oftentimes

need to do penance, either here on earth or in purgatory, that will free our hearts and

our soul so that they belong to God. But indulgence takes away that temporal punishment.

Today we're going to travel back in history just a little bit and talk about

what an indulgence is not, because there has been a lot of confusion about indulgences throughout

history with some pretty terrible consequences. And for this reason, some people don't believe in

indulgences or they don't bother to pursue them.

So that's not good either.

So we're going to learn what it's not so we can further understand what it is.
