Summary
This week we are getting back to our ongoing series: The ABC's of the Catholic Faith. We are on the letter H, and H stands for HOPE! Hope is one of the three Cardinal Virtues, but it is very often misunderstood, so, together, let's dive into hope--and hopefully grow in hope too!

| 0:31.0 | Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Thursday, October 17th, 2024. Today is also the feast day of a man who lived a very long time ago. One of the very first saints that we have, his name is St. Ignatius of Antioch. |
| 0:40.4 | Tradition tells us that St. Ignatius was actually one of the children that Jesus held in the Gospels. |
| 0:47.8 | He later became a disciple of St. John, the beloved disciple, and then later a bishop. |
| 0:54.7 | In fact, records show that he was ordained bishop in the year 69, and that in the year |
| 1:02.2 | 107, he actually, there was a persecution wave that broke out where he was. |
| 1:08.3 | He was put in chains and he was forced to walk back to Rome so that he could be |
| 1:13.4 | executed as entertainment for the emperor. As he wrote, he did not waver for a minute in his faith. |
| 1:22.7 | Instead, what he did is he wrote letters. He wrote letters to all the various churches that had spread |
| 1:28.5 | throughout the world at this point. And in these early letters, he wrote about the Eucharist. |
| 1:34.4 | He wrote about the Pope, the Bishop of Rome, and he also wrote about the priesthood. So we can see |
| 1:40.8 | that even at this early, early stage in Christianity, these important things |
| 1:46.9 | that we still have, the Pope, the Eucharist, the priesthood, were very important and central |
| 1:54.4 | to Christianity, even at the time of St. Ignatius of Antioch. |
| 1:58.8 | Now, this week, we are talking about the virtue of hope. We have already |
| 2:03.1 | talked about hope as confidence that when this life is over, it's not the end. Hope that this life |
| 2:10.9 | is not empty. Hope we receive when we come to know God. And today we'll be talking about different acts of hope that we can make. |
