Lord, 2024. My name is Sir Roland Paterlot, and you're listening to Saturdays with Sir

Rowland on Catholic Sprouts, where every Saturday we discuss the art of dragon slain.

Today we conclude our series on the phrase, virtue stands in the middle. Throughout this series, we have used the art of dragon slain. Today we conclude our series on the phrase,

virtue stands in the middle. Throughout this series, we have used the image of an archery target,

with the bull's eye, or dragon's eyes, I call it, in the middle of the target. The dragon's

eye is what we're aiming for. It represents all that is good, true, and beautiful. It represents

all virtue. To miss the mark is an archery term

called sin, and when we don't live virtue in our lives, we tend further and further away from the

middle and toward the seven deadly dragons, or their opposite and no less deadly extremes. So let's do a

little review of each of the virtues we've discussed so far and their two opposite extremes.

Humility is the virtue that stands between the extremes of pride and self-loathing.

Admiration is the virtue that stands between the extremes of envy and idolatry.

Zeal is the virtue that stands between the extremes of sloth and scrupulosity.

Generosity is the virtue that stands between the extremes

of greed and wastefulness. Forgiveness is the virtue that stands between the extremes of wrath and

servility, and temperance is the virtue that stands between the extremes of gluttony and deficiency.

Now we turn to the final virtue of chastity. We know that the Violet Dragon of Lust is the deadly dragon

opposing chastity at one extreme. Chastity is the virtue that helps us live our vocation in life
