Summary

It's week three of our journey through the ABC's as Catholics. That means we are on the letter C, and C is for CROSS! Join us as we dig into the question of the cross. Jesus didn't "have to" save us through His death on the cross, but He did. So what does this tell us?

+ TUESDAY: The Cross demonstrates how much God loves us

+ WEDNESDAY: On the Cross Jesus modeled obedience

+ THURSDAY: Through the Cross Jesus delivered us from sin AND won graces for us.

0:28.0	Today is also the feast day of St. Rose of Lima.
0:31.5	St. Rose of Lima lived in Peru in the 15 and 16th.
0:37.3	She is the first canonized saint from the new world,
0:42.4	and that roughly just applies to North and South America, Central America as well.
0:48.5	She was a very beautiful girl who grew up with a very devout faith, but her family really wanted her to get married.
0:57.1	She refused for years to the point where she cut off her hair and rubbed salt on her face
1:04.3	so that she wasn't as beautiful anymore. Eventually, her family let her live a life of prayer.
1:11.4	She built a little hut in the family garden where she would spend most of her days praying and doing penance.
1:20.3	And she even was known to wear a small crown of thorns around her hair out of love for Jesus and his suffering.
1:28.8	This week we have continued on our series of the Catholic ABCs talking about the cross.
1:36.0	We have already talked about this great question of the cross.
1:40.2	Jesus chose to save us through the cross.
1:43.1	So what does this tell us about God? Well, it demonstrates
1:46.7	his love for us. It reinforces the importance of obedience. And it also shows us that he is the willing,
1:55.2	the perfect sacrifice, the Lamb of God, who paid our debt.
2:09.7	Today, we are going to talk about how the cross actually shows us the dignity, the importance of humanity.
