Summary

Today we are kicking off a brand new series: THE ABC's OF THE CATHOLIC FAITH! Join us as we work our way through the entire alphabet, and learn more about our wonderful Faith. Today we are kicking things off with A which is for Apostolic Succession!

+ MONDAY: Apostolic Succession is the historical continuity between the present Church and the Apostles.

+ TUESDAY: The Bishops have received the authority God gave the Apostles at Pentecost.

+ WEDNESDAY: In the New Testament we see Matthias, Timothy and Titus made bishops and receive this authority.

+ THURSDAY: Early Church Fathers spoke about bishops and apostolic succession.

+FRIDAY: The miter, crosier, and episcopal ring worn by the bishop help us understand his duty and authority.

0:28.0	Today is also the feast day of the Transfiguration.
0:33.3	This is an event recorded in the Gospels.
0:36.3	At this time, Jesus took just a couple of his followers
0:39.7	up a mountain, and after he prayed, they saw him lifted up off the ground, transfigured.
0:48.8	We hear that he is glowing, that he is blindingly bright and white. And the apostles also see that Jesus begins to
0:57.2	talk to two other figures. They realize that this is Moses and Elijah. He is speaking to them,
1:04.8	and he is speaking to them about what he will do in Jerusalem. Now, the transfiguration was an
1:10.6	incredible moment where a couple of the apostles
1:14.4	could see who Jesus really is. He appeared just to be an ordinary human being, but we know that
1:22.1	he was indeed fully God, fully human. And so a powerful prayer to pray on this day,
1:29.5	the Feast of the Transfiguration,
1:32.2	is that we can also come to a deeper understanding
1:35.5	of Jesus ourselves,
1:38.4	that we can come to understand Him as man and God,
1:42.8	and through that knowing that he can transform our lives.
