Today is Monday, July 29th, 2004.

Today is also the feast day of three people from the New Testament,

dear friends of Jesus Christ, Mary, Martha, and their brother Lazarus. Now, we see them at various times in the gospel. Jesus visits them in Bethany.

Of course, the most well-known story is when Jesus arrives after Lazarus has been dead for several days, and he raises Lazarus from the dead.

Pretty spectacular miracle that Jesus does publicly and very much puts in motion his

crucifixion in death in Jerusalem. But today, let's just reflect on these dear real friends of

Jesus. They knew him, they loved him, and he loved them. Now this week on the Catholic Spouts podcast, we are
