Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Tuesday, June 11th, 2020. This week on the Catholic Spouts podcast, we are preparing for our virtual Bible school next week that will study the works of mercy.

Yesterday we talked about the five-finger gospel, you did it for me.

Today we are going to talk about the first half of the works of mercy, and these are the

corporal works of mercy.

But before we get there, please join me in our June prayer,

the prayer to the sacred heart of Jesus. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the

Holy Spirit, amen. O most holy heart of Jesus, fountain of every blessing, I adore you, I love you,

and with lively sorrow for my sins, I offer you this poor heart of mine.

Make me humble, patient, pure, and wholly obedient to your will. Grant good Jesus that I may live in you

and for you. Protect me in the midst of danger. Comfort me in my afflictions. Give me health of body,

assistance in my temporal needs, and your blessing on all that I do,

and the grace of a holy death. Amen.

So like I said, today we're talking about the first half of the works of mercy, which are the corporal works of mercy.

So to understand this, we need to remember that we are made in

God's image, that we are made out of love, that God delights in who we are, and that as human

beings, we have two distinct parts that are joined together and depend on each other completely. So we have a

body, our physical body that, you know, takes up space and has a certain look and size. So our

physical body, but we also have our spirit. Our spirit affects our body,

our body affects our spirit. They are connected. But as you likely know, there are two ways
