Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Wednesday, May 29th, 2024. This week we are talking about the devotional titles of Mary, our mother. We've already talked about the Immaculate Heart of Mary

and Mary as the mother of sorrows.

Today we are going to talk about Mary as the mother of the church.

Before we get to that, though, please join me in our May prayer, which comes from Fatima, the pardon prayer.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen.

My God, I believe, I adore, I hope, and I love you.

I ask pardon for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope, and do not love you, amen.

So like I said, today's title is Mary the mother of the church.

Now, Mary truly is, our mother.

When Jesus ascended back up into heaven, he promised that he would send the Holy Spirit to guide

the church. And we know that the Holy Spirit has been active because every single human being

that has called themselves Catholic has been a sinner. We've had all sorts of problems,

and yet the church has endured. And the only way that was possible is because the Holy Spirit is here.

But because Jesus is so good, he not only gives us the Holy Spirit. Before he died while he was hanging on the cross,

he also gave us a mother, a mother to be the tender voice calling us back to truth to her son.

And so if you recall, nearly everyone that had followed Jesus abandoned him.

Just a few people stood there and were with him as he died.

Mary, his mother, was there, but so was John the beloved disciple.

And before Jesus died, he told John that Mary was now his mother, and he told Mary that she was now John's mother.
