Summary

For a long time, most Christians were unable to read and write. Therefore, they came to know and understand their faith through art. Painting, sculptures and stained glass played a key role in teaching the Faith, and this is true when it comes to Mary. All month we are discussing Marian titles and this week we turn to art and look at the various ways Mary is depicted, the titles attached to these depictions, and what we can learn from these titles.

Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Wednesday, May 22nd, 2024. This week we are talking about Marion titles. But before we get to that, today we are celebrating a great saint, St. Rita. Now, St. Rita was one of those saints

who wanted to be a sister, but she lived a long time ago, and her parents arranged a marriage for her.

0:48.2

So she got married, but her husband was not a good guy. He was into some pretty wicked things and he did not treat her well.

0:58.3

She had two sons and even her sons began to follow their father and be very sinful. But St. Rita

1:05.6

prayed and prayed and prayed. And thanks be to God, all of her family members had a massive

1:13.6

reversion, but they also died young and St. Rita lived a lot longer than they did. So after her

husband died, she became a religious sister. And one of the things that she is most known for

1:26.6

is that she begged God to let her suffer with him.

1:31.2

And so God allowed her to feel, to receive a divine wound, a mystical wound.

1:37.4

We call those the stigmata.

1:39.9

She did not get wounds on her hands and feet like other saints.

1:43.7

Instead, she felt one of the thorns pierced her forehead.

1:49.4

So she had a wound from the crown of thorns on her forehead that she asked Jesus for

1:54.7

so that she might suffer with him.

1:58.2

Now, we are going to continue to talk aboutian titles attached to art, but before we do,

please join me in our May prayer, the pardon prayer from Fatima. In the name of the Father and of the

Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen. My God, I believe, I adore, I hope, and I love you. I ask pardon for those who do not

believe, do not adore, do not hope, and do not love you, amen. Now today's title is
