This week we are continuing our 40 days with the Martyr's Lenten Series! Join us in saying this prayer each day:

ST PETER'S CHAINS PRAYER:

O God, Who caused St. Peter, the apostle, to depart, loosed from his chains and unhurt,

loose, we beg You, the chains of our sins,

and graciously keep all evils far from us.

Bless us this Lent and give us the faith of the martyrs.

We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.

0:36.5	In his honor, we are continuing to talk about the great martyrs of our faith.
0:42.6	Today, we are traveling to Hungary in the 1940s to meet Blessed Sarah Scalajazi, who was a martyr during World War II.
0:55.9	Before we talk about her story, though,
1:00.6	please join me in our Lenton prayer, St. Peter's chains.
1:05.6	In the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, amen.

1:22.0	Loose, we beg you the chains of our sins and graciously keep all evils far from us.
1:26.3	Bless us this lent and give us the faith of the martyrs.

1:47.6	So Blessed Sarah Scalajazi was born in 1899 and she is probably the last person that you would expect to become a nun. She was a rough girl, a bit of a tomboy. As she grew up, she became a journalist and a heavy smoker. And at the time,
1:55.6	being a journalist was a very demanding, very ruthless life. However, she became engaged to a man. And after she accepted
2:05.8	this proposal, she began to really prayerfully evaluate the life that God was calling to her.
2:13.1	And she realized that she actually felt a calling to the religious life.
2:19.1	So she broke off her engagement and she joined an active order of sisters who were engaged
2:26.0	in helping women, especially women on the fringes of society.
