Today is Friday, December 1st, 2020.

Today is also the feast day of an English martyr, St. Edmund Campion.

He's an important saint that we're going to talk about a lot today.

But before we return to him

and to our topic of Jesus Christ's king of the universe, please join me in praying Psalm 136.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen. Oh, give thanks to the Lord,

for He is good. For his steadfast love endures forever. Oh, give thanks to the Lord for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever.

Oh, give thanks to the God of God's, for his steadfast love endures forever.

Oh, give thanks to the Lord of Lords, for his steadfast love endures forever. Amen.

So this week we have been talking about Jesus Christ as the king of the universe. We learned that a king, a good king, is a servant to the servants, that we are all

united as if we follow Jesus Christ as our king. We heard from the stories of

Father Miguel Pro from Mexico and St. Andrew, the disciple, that no matter what is happening in the

world, even if corrupt leaders hurt us and persecute us for our faith, Jesus Christ remains the

eternal and true king of the universe.

Now, today we're going to talk about St. Edmund Campion. So St. Edmund Campion also lived

during a difficult time when the church was being persecuted. So he lived in England during the Protestant Reformation. During the Protestant

Reformation, various places in Europe became broken away from the Catholic Church. Martin Luther

led a revolt in Germany, and the king, King Henry VIII, after he could not get a divorce, decided to break away from Rome and become the leader of the English Church.
