Hey there, sprouts. Today is Tuesday, November 28th, 2023. This week in the final week of our church calendar year, we are talking about Christ, the king, the ruler of the universe. Before we return to that, though, please

month is challenging us to learn as we grow in gratitude. In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, amen.

O give thanks to the Lord of Lords, for he is good,

endures forever. Amen. So yesterday we talked about the fact that a king, a good king,

is the servant of the servants. Today we're going to talk about

how this feast day that we celebrated on Sunday, Christ the King, Jesus King of the Universe,

how this feast day was established. It was actually established by the Pope in the 1920s.

And it being established in the 1920s is pretty meaningful. In the 1920s,

this world was a pretty crazy place. World War II had just happened, and all sorts of governments,

even outside of Europe, were popping up and dismissing God.

They were atheist governments that refused to believe in God.

And in many places, both in Europe, Mexico, South America, they began to persecute the church.

Close churches, persecute priests, even kill priests in some places.

And so the Pope at that time gave us this feast day.
