Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Tuesday, February 19th, 2019. This week on the Catholic Sprouts

podcast, we are preparing ourselves for Lent by talking about the topic of repentance.

Yesterday, we talked about why we sin and reminded ourselves that we are given a choice by God.

We have free will and we can choose to follow him or to be disobedient.

Today, we are going to talk about what sin does.

Now, chances are you can feel what sin does.

God has allowed us to sense certain things, but it is helpful to say boldly what sin does.

Now, to say it as simply as possible, sin comes between us and God. And in fact, very serious sins can completely

cut us off from God. Now, why is it so important to be connected to God? Well, remember,

all good things in this world, all good and beautiful things, all things worth having, come from God.

All virtue comes from God and all graces come from God.

The grace of having a peace of mind or joy or the ability to understand others

and have friendships. All of these things come from God. So when we choose to sin, we are placing

something between us and God. And God's goodness can't get through

as easily as it could before. As you get older, you will discover that not all sins are equal.

Some sins are small. We can beg forgiveness from the people in our lives. And those wounds can be healed

and we can move on. There are other things, however, that are more serious and that we really will

only receive complete forgiveness for if we go before a priest and confess those sins in the
