| 0:00.0 | You're listening to Catholic Sprouts, the daily podcast for Catholic kids that strives to plant seeds of faith. |
| 0:14.4 | Hey there, Spouts. Today is Thursday, February 14th, 2019. |
| 0:24.6 | This week on the Catholic Sprouts podcast, we are talking about purity. |
| 0:28.3 | We started by talking about our Lady of Lords in St. Bernadette. |
| 0:32.0 | Then we reflected on our own pristine baptismal gown and how we need to quest to keep it perfectly clean and to keep our |
| 0:40.2 | hearts pure. Yesterday we talked about modesty and how we need to keep certain parts of our body |
| 0:48.4 | veiled as respect for the wonderful loving God that created us. Today we are going to be talking about our eyes. |
| 0:57.6 | Now, that might seem like a funny thing to talk about this week when we're talking about purity, |
| 1:02.4 | but we need to remember that our eyes are like the windows to the soul. |
| 1:08.5 | Many philosophers have saints and have described it that way. And a lot of the times, |
| 1:13.3 | the things that we see, the things we allow our eyes to take in, can play a big impact on our purity. |
| 1:24.3 | And like we said, the things that we see and take in can stain that beautiful baptismal |
| 1:31.9 | gown that we had on our baptism. So we need to protect and really guard our eyes. Now, the |
| 1:41.6 | unfortunate truth is that in this world, there are lots of bad things that we can look at and that we can allow our eyes to take in. |
| 1:53.5 | Most of these things are pictures or videos. |
| 1:57.9 | And there can be lots of different ways that they can be bad. They can be overly |
| 2:02.6 | violent. They can use language that are not appropriate. We can watch people acting in horrible ways. |
| 2:10.4 | Or we can watch people that are not practicing modesty. Chances are your teachers and parents are watching out for you and only showing you |
| 2:20.4 | things that are good and pure and will lead to your holiness. But my friends, you will come to a day |
| 2:27.3 | where you get to make these decisions for yourself, where you get to decide what you are going to watch when you turn on Netflix, |
| 2:37.6 | where you get to decide what types of magazines you will pick up, and what sort of things you |
| 2:42.9 | will allow your eyes to take in. And in the world that we live in, there is a lot of temptation. |
