0:29.4	Hey there, sprouts. Today is Wednesday, August 16th, 2020. This week on the Catholic Sprouts podcast, we are talking about the four principles of Marian dogma. Today we are talking
0:35.8	about the fact that Mary is the mother of God. Before we dive into that,
0:41.3	though, let's pray the St. Michael prayer. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the
0:46.3	Holy Spirit, amen. St. Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against
0:54.0	the wickedness and sneers of the devil.
0:57.1	May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God,
1:04.7	cast into hell, Satan, and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
1:14.2	So we've talked about what dogma is, that it is a truth taught by the church that we believe as Catholics.
1:20.7	We believe them to be Catholic.
1:23.4	We talked about the assumption, which we celebrated yesterday when Mary was assumed into heaven, body and soul at the end of her earthly life.
1:33.6	Today, we are going to talk about the fact that Mary is the mother of God.
1:39.7	Now, journey with me all the way back to those early days of Christianity, when there were no
1:46.4	cathedrals or CCD programs, when even the Bible that we have today was still being written,
1:55.5	imagine how confusing it was at that time to figure things out. Well, even since those very early days,
2:04.6	we as Catholics have always believed that Mary was and remains the mother of God. Now,
2:12.5	throughout the ages, some people have come to teach wrongly that Mary Mary simply was used by God, that like God
2:21.9	used her body to bring baby Jesus into the world. But that is not true. God has always allowed
2:32.7	humanity to come and play a part in his great plan, and he allowed Mary to play the biggest role yet. He allowed her to truly be the mother of God, to give part of who she was to Jesus Christ.
2:53.7	Now, this is a mystery.
