So we've talked about what dogma is, that it is a truth taught by the church that we believe as Catholics.

We talked about the assumption, which we celebrated yesterday when Mary was assumed into heaven, body and soul at the end of her earthly life.

Now, journey with me all the way back to those early days of Christianity, when there were no

cathedrals or CCD programs, when even the Bible that we have today was still being written,

imagine how confusing it was at that time to figure things out. Well, even since those very early days,

we as Catholics have always believed that Mary was and remains the mother of God. Now,

throughout the ages, some people have come to teach wrongly that Mary Mary simply was used by God, that like God

used her body to bring baby Jesus into the world. But that is not true. God has always allowed

humanity to come and play a part in his great plan, and he allowed Mary to play the biggest role yet. He allowed her to truly be the mother of God, to give part of who she was to Jesus Christ.
