0:27.6	Today is also a very important Marian feast day, as well as a holy day of obligation.
0:35.9	It is the feast of the assumption. Today we celebrate that Mary was
0:41.1	taken up into heaven. She was assumed up into heaven, body and soul at the end of her
0:49.1	earthly life. Now this is one of four dogmatic principles concerning Mary that we believe as Catholics.
0:57.7	So we're going to talk about this, understand it a little bit better.
1:00.8	But please, first, join me in praying the prayer to St. Michael the Archangel.
1:07.5	Name of the Father and the Son, and of the Holy Amen. St. Michael the Archangel defend us in battle.
1:16.2	Be our protection against the wickedness and sneers of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray.
1:24.0	And do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
1:38.4	So yesterday we talked about how dogma is a truth that has been infallibly or without error defined and taught by the church
1:47.8	and is divinely revealed. So this is a truth from God that is perfectly taught by the church,
1:55.2	which we are obligated to believe if we belong to this church. So there are four of these,
2:00.6	and today we're going to start with
2:01.9	what we're celebrating, the assumption of Mary. So here is what we believe. Mary lived probably a
2:09.7	long and good life after Jesus returned to heaven. She lived with the early church, specifically with John, the beloved disciple,
2:20.3	with the community that formed around him, that she was beloved, that she shared stories
2:25.6	about Jesus' early life, those recorded by Luke and the gospel. But she grew old,
