Inspired by the Christ-centered friendships of Blessed Pier Georgio, let's explore Christian Friendship, through the example of some saints who were friends in real life!

Monday: hear the story of 16 French nuns, united in friendship, who bravely faced death and effectively ended the Reign of Terror
Tuesday: hear the story of St Ignatius of Loyola and St. Francis Xavier, college roommates who baptized tens of thousands!
Wednesday: hear the story of St. Marcina the Younger, and the friendships she had with her siblings, most of which are now saints too!
Thursday: hear the story of Sts. Francis and Clare of Assisi, and how their radical choice to follow Jesus made it possible for others to do the same.
Friday: hear the story of Sts. Felicity and Perpetua, two very different women who, united in Jesus, bravely faced death in His name.

0:30.3	Hey there, sprouts. Today is Wednesday, July 19th, 2020. Today is also the feast day of St. Macrina the Younger. Now, this week on the Catholic Spouts podcast, we are talking about

0:39.5	But before we return to that, please join me in praying the prayer to the sacred heart of Jesus.

0:51.4	O most holy heart of Jesus, fountain of every blessing, I adore you, I love you,
0:59.4	and with lively sorrow for my sins, I offer you this poor heart of mine. Make me humble,
1:06.9	patient, pure, and wholly obedient to your will. Grant good Jesus that I may live in you and for you.
1:15.8	Protect me in the midst of danger, comfort me in my afflictions, give me health of body, assistance
1:22.6	in my temporal needs, your blessings on all that I do, and the grace of a holy death, amen.
1:29.8	So this week we have been talking about great saint friends.
1:34.1	We talked about French nuns during the Revolution, Blessed Pierre Giorgio, and yesterday,
1:40.8	St. Ignatius of Leola and Francis Xavier. Now, today we're going to talk about
1:46.5	the person celebrating a feast day today, St. Macrina the Younger. Now, to learn about her,
1:53.8	you need to go all the way back to the 300th. So what was happening in the 300th? Well, for about 300 years, the Church of Christ
2:05.2	was persecuted terribly by the Roman Empire. However, in the year 311, Constantine won an important
2:14.6	victory through Christ's power.
2:18.5	Well, he converted eventually, but he ended persecution and made Christianity the religion
2:24.6	of the empire.
2:26.6	So Christians, for the very first time, were living in freedom.
