Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Monday, May 1st, 2003. Today is also the feast day of St. Joseph the worker. That's right. St. Joseph has two feast days. We celebrate him in March, but we also celebrate him today on May 1st. And we celebrate his identity as a worker. And he's not the only one called to work, of course. We all are called to work, whether that be a schoolwork or a job or chores around the house.

This feast day reminds us that God created us to tend this earth that he created,

1:03.7

to care for those that have been entrusted to us, and to model our work after St. Joseph.

1:09.3

Now, think about St. Joseph. We know he was a carpenter or a laborer

1:14.3

with wood and stone, and he oftentimes worked in a small shop. And as he worked, Jesus, the child,

1:22.9

stood at his side learning, watching, and in conversation with him. And so that is our model for work,

1:31.0

whether we're sitting down to do homework or we're out mowing the lawn or whatever it is

1:37.3

to try to be like St. Joseph and to be there working, but all the while with Jesus in conversation with him and sharing our work

1:48.4

with him. That is how the good St. Joseph worked and it is how we are called to work as well.

And so we are going to take this week to pray a rosary together.

2:08.1

That's right.

2:08.8

Each day we will be praying one decade of the rosary.

2:13.1

And we will be praying through the glorious mysteries since we are still in the Easter season.

2:18.5

To do this, I'm going to be sharing some beautiful reflections for each decade based on the writings of St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta.

2:28.5

Now, St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta prayed the rosary before the blessed sacrament each and every day.

2:34.9

She encourages us to do that as well,

2:36.8

and she encourages us to see Jesus Christ present as the Eucharist in each of these mysteries.

2:45.0

So I hope that you find them beautiful and inspiring.

2:49.2

So let's pray together.

2:51.7

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen.
