Today is the feast of St. Thomas Aquinas.

Perhaps you've heard of him. He was a really smart, legendary dragon-sayer who wrote many books and words of wisdom that we still use today to understand the mysteries of who God is and what we believe is Catholics.

One of my favorite stories about St. Thomas Aquinas was when he was finishing writing a treatise

on the Holy Eucharist, and he was just really dissatisfied with it and kind of beating himself

up because he felt he just couldn't do justice to the majesty and glory of our Eucharistic

Lord. Well, then Thomas heard the voice of Jesus say to him,

You have written well of me, Thomas. What shall you have as a reward? Thomas answered,

I will have nothing, Lord, except you. That of course is the right answer. Thomas knew that nothing in this

world, no wealth, no honor, no power, no pleasure, nothing can satisfy the deepest longings of our hearts

except Jesus alone. Thomas spent so much of his life in prayer and study and

contemplation of the mysteries of God because he knew God alone could satisfy his heart. And that

brings us to our topic for today. We've been discussing the yellow dragon of sloth named Acadia

and how this dragon makes us lazy in the spiritual life. We heard from St. Paul, the legendary dragon-sayer, who taught us to live life with passion and zeal.

And last week we discussed that virtue of zeal as the weapon we can use to slay Acadia.
