| 0:00.0 | You're listening to Catholic Sprouts, the daily podcast for Catholic kids that strives to plant seeds of faith. |
| 0:32.1 | Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Friday, January 20th, 20th, 2003. Today is also the feast day of one of the toughest saints in our history, St. Sebastian. St. Sebastian lived during the early church when it was still illegal to be a Christian in the |
| 0:41.8 | Roman Empire. |
| 0:43.2 | He actually was a member of the Emperor's Guard, and he was a Christian, and after he converted, |
| 0:50.3 | he actually worked to convert others. |
| 0:53.7 | Eventually, the Emperor found out about him and |
| 0:56.7 | ordered that he be executed. So Sebastian was taken out and the emperor's army fired arrows at |
| 1:06.5 | him, shot him all over his body, and left him tied to a post to die. But St. Sebastian was a tough, |

| 1:43.0 | still alive, and he ordered his execution once more, |
| 1:47.0 | and this time it worked. So St. Sebastian was a very brave, very tough man who was martyred twice |
| 1:54.9 | for the faith, and still loved Jesus through it all. So we are talking about miracles this week, but before we get there, let's work on memorizing |
| 2:05.4 | Deuteronomy chapter 6 verses 4 through 9. |
| 2:08.6 | In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, amen. |
| 2:12.6 | Hear, O Israel, the Lord is your God, the Lord is one. |
| 2:17.0 | And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart |
| 2:20.2 | and with all your soul and with all your strength. These words which I am commanding you today shall be |
| 2:27.2 | on your heart, and you shall repeat them diligently to your sons and speak of them when you sit in your |
