This week we are talking about miracles, but before we get there,

join me as we work on memorizing Deuteronomy chapter 6, verses 4 through 9. name of the father and the son and the holy spirit amen here o israel the lord is your god the lord is one and you shall love the lord your god with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength these words which I am commanding you today shall be on your heart,

and you shall repeat them diligently to your sons and speak of them when you sit in your house,

when you walk on the road, when you lie down, and when you get up. Amen.

So miracles. This week we have already talked about how important Jesus's miracles were, how they proved that he was the Messiah, and miracles in our Christian faith

continue to prove that we are the church guided by the Holy Spirit. We talked about the fact that miracles have a hidden cause.

And yesterday we reminded ourselves that nothing is impossible for God.

We can hope for miracles.

And we pray for miracles by first asking for forgiveness for our sins

and then asking with a bold and reckless faith for the miracle.

Now, today, we are going to talk about why it's hard today in our modern world to believe in

miracles. It's hard. I believe it was easier for the early Christians than it is for us today.

Now, let's be honest. Our world is very, very different than the world of the 200s.

When the church was just becoming established and our first saints, many of them were dying as martyrs,

but the first saint stories were being told.

Our world is very different. We can connect with people instantly in other parts of the world.

We have comfortable lives and technology, and we also benefit from many tremendous advancements in science. In fact, science can sometimes
