Hey there, sprouts. Today is Friday, January 6, 2023. Today is also the epiphany of our Lord,

0:38.5

although where you live, it might be transferred to Sunday. Today is the traditional day where we celebrate the epiphany. Before we talk about this important feast day, however, let's pray

0:44.3

through our verses we are memorizing as part of the B. A Saint Kids Club, Deuteronomy

0:49.2

chapter 6 verses 4 through 9. In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, amen.

0:55.2

Hear, O Israel, the Lord is your God. The Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God

1:01.8

with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These words which I am

1:08.2

commanding you today shall be on your heart, and you shall repeat them

1:12.8

diligently to your sons, and speak of them when you sit in your house, when you walk on the road,

1:19.6

when you lie down, and when you get up. Amen. So let's talk about the epiphany. Now the the epiphany is an important feast day that the church has actually been celebrating

1:33.2

2:03.1

were celebrating from the very beginning. So what is the epiphany? Well, in our church, we believe

2:10.2

that the epiphany is when the wise men, or the three kings, which we sometimes refer to them,

2:17.1

arrived and offered gifts and worship to

2:21.1

Jesus Christ. We don't know a lot about these three men. We hear that they were from the east,

2:28.1

that they were learned, and that they followed a star to come and find Jesus, his mother, and St. Joseph.

2:37.6

When they arrived, they acknowledged that he was a king, and they bowed down in worship,

2:43.6

offering him gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Gold because he was a king,

2:51.8

Frankencence because he was the high priest, the highest priest,
