Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Wednesday, November 23, 2020. Today is also the feast day of St. Clement I of Rome. St. Clement I was the fourth pope. So Peter was number one. Then we had a couple of other guys. And then we had Clement. And he actually died in the year 97. So Clement,

of course, lived in Rome because that is where Peter established the church. It is also where the church received heavy persecution under the Roman Empire.

As Pope, he was arrested for being a Christian,

and as Pope, he was actually found guilty and sent to the salt mines to work.

Eventually, he died a martyr from the faith when he was thrown from a ship

with an anchor around his neck. He, however, is seen as one of the fathers of the church,

and his letters to the church are still kept in red as a powerful example of faith even during persecution.
